Thanks for all the Fizz...

I would like to take the time out and thank Etisalat for their never-ending concern for my moral welfare.

Thank you Etisalat...

Thank you for letting me know that it is ok to harass and solicit women in clubs and in public but not ok to visit a dating website.

Thank you for clarifying that it is ok to participate in the Dubai Duty Free Raffle but not ok to visit a gambling website.

Thank you for confirming that it is ok to buy uncensored DVDs in Virgin but not ok to look at the Swimsuit Calender of Sports Illustrated.

Thank you for informing me that it is ok to buy Maxim and FHM in Magrudy's but not ok to got to their websites.

Thank you also for blocking websites that allow me to interact with old friends thus implying that I should be making nice friendships with the indigenous female population.

And a big thank you for letting us all know that it is immoral, unethical, insensitive to take and share photos and videos as well.

FALCONCITY:

With a name like Falcon city one would expect to be surrounded by predatory birds or maybe to be living in a bird themed building.

But instead we have cheap, tacky copies of some of the most iconic buildings of the world.

This monstrosity is part of that axis of evil known as Dubai Holding. A place of mediocrity and unoriginality. Dear Dubai Holding, if you are going to build something new how about you stop copying OTHER country's icons and come up with something of your own. I mean, can you not find something in your "long" and "glorious" past that you can use as inspiration for an original piece of work.

And am I the only one who feels these replicas are an insult to the heritage and achievements of all the other countries????

But what really burns is the descriptions they employ on their website: Namely this gem - Dubai Taj Mahal is renowned for its architectural magnificence and artistic beauty . HUH???? the Dubai Trash Mahal has not been built yet and it is already renowned for its beauty?? Where is it renowned?? Who holds it in renown?? Three 64K dollar questions.

This is gonna give me a stroke....

Not only these replicas are an insult to the heritage and achievements of all the other countries they're an insult to the local area.

We can employ the best people to create ideas - but they're told to make kitsch copies of other peoples' icons instead of being allowed to come up with originals. Burj al Arab, Madinat Jumeirah are reasonable examples of originals in my opinion.

The present tense for projects that are still not even on the drawing board has been annoying the hell out of me for a long time. They never use "will be", it's always "is". That's worse than misleading, it's fraudulent because they advertise that way to buyers who aren't here and can't see the reality.

Well, Etisalat just blocked youTube and Metacafe !!

The worse thing is, any website/blog that links to Youtube , Flickr, Metacafe etc. will just not work anymore. ARRGH!!

I think the Falcon City of Wonders will be a most beguiling and enchanting place.

Surely it shows what this great army of workers, led by visionarys can attain.

of course it is going to be enchanting,

......... if you are a blind, blinging, nouveau riche fuckwit.

p.s: gotta love the fraudulent advertising - How much more can they lie?

Ill make sure to say hello in person when you all visit these attraction in 5-10 years time! (like you do with all the other 'insulting' projects in Dubai)

I admire your strength to be able to continue living amongst these people and this business culture that you hate so much ... There must be something keeping you here!

It may be in bad taste, dishonest, hypocritical, exploitative, congested, polluted and unoriginal but Dubai has taken a strip of hostile desert occupied only by poverty stricken nomads and has turned it into a commercial success. The expatriates only come to work and make money, is it so amazing that their needs are not Dubai emirates primary concern.
