Only Subcons can work as my B*tt Wipers

The incredulousness described in the previous post can be attributed to:

Another brilliant move in the saga of Emiratisation: Only Nationals can work as HR managers

Lets get this straight. I am not against emiratisation. Hell, I think Emiratisation is needed. Every government has a duty towards its citizens.

BUT.... I do not agree with the actions being taken.

Lets review it and the flaws in this policy begin to surface.

To quote the article "the emiratisation of human resource managers was prompted by foreign human resources managers' "preference to recruit their own nationals." "

Aaah. So there was some distinct racism on the part of the current HR managers. So that explains why locals are not getting jobs in the private sector. And all the while I thought it was because there is higher salary and holiday expectations among the locals. And at the risk of being politically incorrect (or - ballsy) I always thought it was due to a distinct lack of competence among the nationals. (More death threats I guess)

Allow me to explain. My job brings me into contact with students of the Local universities every so often. And what has always surprised me is the distinct lack of basic knowledge among even fourth year students (not all but a huge number).

I have even had the pleasure of interviewing a few nationals and I am sorry to say that as a majority they are woefully inadequate.

While Locals might rejoice about this announcement, it is to be noted that this is detrimental in the long run.

As a country, what you want is to have a competant workforce. But policies like this only serve to encourage laziness and an entitlement attitude.

What is so ironic about this policy is that it has been made to combat this "racism" by non-national managers. Now what we are gonna have is "reverse-racism" (to quote Chris Rock).

The saddest part of this story is once again the lower classes - the poor subcon secretaries (who are also now banned along with HR managers) who have been told to pretty much pack up and leave.

What is sad is that these very same expats have sweated for this country. The least they could get is a thank you.

I guess the only course of action is to have some jobs which are exclusively for them (this racism thing might work after all).

We are taking applications for the following (non-subcons need not apply)
  • Labourer - Benefits include: being outdoors, free accomodation, many friends and a chance to work for free for one of the booming cities in Dubai
  • Garbage Cleaner - Benefits include: Company Car, and all the food you can salvage
  • Housemaid - Benefits include: personal attention from the master of the house, practice at how not to raise a kid.
  • My B*tt Wiper - Benefits include: short working hours, free bed cum loo, and you get to keep any gold nuggets that you find.

Screw this crap...I'm outta here.....

Back in Pooptown

After an extremely relaxing holiday (which didnt do anything to make me any less bitter) I am back in this town we call Hilton Keynes.

The first feeling that hit me was a wave of nausea as soon as I stepped out of the plane (partly due to the heat and partly due to the security guard at the gate who must have been sweating Oud - I sh*t you not. The guy was a walking oud well.)

This was followed by misery as I knew I would have to face work today and the sight of about 500 unread emails always makes me cry for my momma.

Finally, I was hit by a tsunami of incredulousness (more on this later) this morning.

But onto happy news. Something to warm the heart and to show us that there are pockets of humnanity/generosity in this Bling-obsessed town.

Getting ready for the death threats

KT - June 4th Shops still selling Danish products.

Apparently some shops in Abu Dhabi are selling Danish products (the non-conformist asses).

And above and beyond that they have commited the grave sin of not informing buyers about it as witnessed by Abdullah Khaled, a Khaleej Times reader, says: "Abu Dhabi shopping centers bluffed consumers and sold them boycotted Danish products. I once bought a dairy product. Later, I discovered that it was made in Denmark. My wife got angry with me, and wondered how I bought such "filthy" products from a country that arrogantly defamed our great Prophet (peace be upon him), and neither it nor its government wanted to express apology. Was it that easy for you? It was a great shock to us all. I rushed back to the centre, and angrily requested a comment on that violation."

So here we go again.

Some people are upset that some shops have Danish products and want the shops to ban them.

Well, let me introduce you to this wonderful concept called Freedom of Choice.

The Shops CHOOSE to put Danish products for sale. And you CHOOSE whether you want to buy these products.

And for all those people who are anti-danes, you would be surprised to know that quite a few people would keep buying Danish products knowingly.

And to top it off:

Somewhere along the line Denmark and all its citizens are being blamed for these "offensive" cartoons.

A quick lesson - The cartoons were printed by an INDEPENDANT newspaper and as such the government or the people cannot be held responsible. The government is not the one you should be asking an apology (its like telling you, that you are responsible for the terrorist acts and we want an apology).

The irony in all of this is that the offended parties are quick to tar a whole nation with the same brush as the newspaper. At the same time these offended parties keep stating that the actions of the terrorists are not a reflection on their peaceful religion or the residents of the middle east.

But of course the above is irrelevant since we all know there is one standard/rule for the Middle East and one for the rest of the world.

So what I am going to do is Demand an apology from all of the middle east.
An apology from Saudi for 9/11. An apology from Pakistan for the London bombings. An apology from all other countries for various wrong doings (too many to list). An apology for the racism, the treatment of workers, the appalling human rights etc etc etc and finally a personal apology to me for the driving on the road, an apology for the bathing in perfume, an apology for the Visible Panty Lines, an apology from KT for just being atrocious and finally an apology for just plain offending me by putting your ugly face in my field of view.

The point I am making is its a time for dialogue and understanding................
